16 Most Environmentally Friendly States
Some states are more eco-friendly than others. To figure out which ones are the most eco-friendly, there are three main factors: Environmental Quality, Eco-Friendly Behaviors, and Climate-Change Contributions.
25 different measures were used to evaluate each state. Each measure was scored from 0 to 100, with 100 being the best for eco-friendliness. This data provides a calculated weighted average for each state to get an overall score. These scores were used to rank the states.
Illinois
Illinois is sixteenth among the most eco-friendly states. The state has an environmental quality ranking of 10. Its Eco-Friendly behaviors rank is 19, and the Climate-Change contributions rank is 28. Illinois’s total score is 64.78.
Michigan
Michigan secures the fifteenth spot among the most eco-friendly states. The state has an environmental quality ranking of 7. Its Eco-Friendly behaviors rank is 26, and the Climate-Change contributions rank is 19. Michigan’s total score is 66.32.
Colorado
Colorado claims the fourteenth position among the most eco-friendly states. The state has an environmental quality ranking of 20. Its Eco-Friendly behaviors rank is 4, and the Climate-Change contributions rank is 23. Colorado’s total score is 67.61.
Oregon
Oregon comes in thirteenth among the most eco-friendly states. The state has an environmental quality ranking of 15. Its Eco-Friendly behaviors rank is 2, and the Climate-Change contributions rank is 37. Oregon’s total score is 68.44.
