A recent study ranked the dirtiest cities in America, and some of the results might surprise you. Two of the top 13 cities were in Texas, and three were in California. The study looked at 152 U.S. cities, comparing things like pollution, living conditions, infrastructure, and how happy people are with their cities.

Houston is ranked 1st overall, dethroning last year’s winner, Newark, New Jersey. According to LawnStarter, Houston ranks “third worst in greenhouse gas emissions from large industrial facilities,” and the city also has “the biggest cockroach problem.” It’s ranked 3rd in pollution, 4th in living conditions, 12th in infrastructure, and 34th in consumer satisfaction.

Newark is ranked 2nd overall with an overall score of 55.25, ranking 14th in pollution. It’s 5th in living conditions, 97th in infrastructure, and 3rd in consumer satisfaction.
San Bernardino, California
